Kentico Awards Winner - Australian Red Cross

Zeroseven has been awarded a second accolade in the Kentico 2017 Site of the Year awards, with the new Australian Red Cross website winning the Best NGO Site category.

Australian Red Cross (ARC) is part of the global Red Cross Red Crescent Movement which provides humanitarian assistance to millions of people around the world. With a legacy site that was already six years old, there was a need for a refresh to reflect the Red Cross’ modern image. This was also identified as the perfect opportunity to upgrade the website usability to a fully accessible experience.

As part of the redesign, Zeroseven carried out a range of user experience research to improve functionality for both users and editors. A user-led information architecture was developed, alongside A/B testing and personalisation tests to ensure the layout of the site would provide high usability and also achieve a AA accessibility compliance rating. The design is also fully responsive, ensuring users obtain a superior experience across all devices.

There were a variety of challenges associated with the redesign, including information layout, usability and ease of editing. The same selection of widgets were needed to build normal content pages, as well as being used in standalone campaigns. A large amount of content was needed to be carried over from the legacy site, as well as integrating additional functionality such as a volunteer search and the ability to create specific campaign pages. There was also the need to include several third-party integrations such as PageUp for volunteer and career searching, and Olark for chat functionality.

Kentico 10 was the ideal platform due to its flexibility in content creation, along with numerous powerful marketing and customisation tools. The high level of customisation has given Australian Red Cross the ability to create quality content, while also utilising their corporate colours to their fullest potential. Australian Red Cross staff are able to easily create and maintain their content using Kentico’s Content Management platform.

Damian Joy, Project Coordinator at Zeroseven says, “The refreshed look and feel of the Australian Red Cross site has provided a much improved user experience for both public and internal users. Kentico 10 was the perfect choice for this website with its high level of customisation and ease of use.”
