2009 is 'Year of the Blood Donor' and, in light of recent events, we thought we would do our bit to boost supplies of the red stuff. Those of the team who could donate ventured to the mobile unit at South Bank and we rewarded with an afternoon lay down and a free snack!
The unit was short-staffed and extremely busy with every available slot taken all day and yet the Red Cross staff still managed to remain friendly, energetic and funny.
Did you know you can give blood every 12 weeks? There is a woman profiled on the Red Cross Blood Service website who has donated 600 times since 1945!!
We would encourage everyone who has considered giving blood to look into it.
