Overview

Airportlink is Brisbane's exciting new 6.7 km toll road, connecting the CBD to Brisbane Airport, the Trade Coast and the rapidly growing northern suburbs. The road is Australia's largest infrastructure project and will create an improvement in the way that visitors and residents of Brisbane will get around the city.

 

Prior to the road opening in 2012, the main focus of the digital campaign is to familiarise the public with the benefits of the road and where it will lead. This road will connect with the Clem7 under river tunnel to form a cohesive network around Brisbane. It will cut travel times and reduce frustration and is an excellent investment in the future of Brisbane's road network.

 

Solution

To give a clear picture of where the road will be going, the site features a unique Route Planner which integrates Google Maps with interchange animation maps and drive through simulator videos. This is an excellent tool for familiarising users with the road and is easy to understand from a driver's point of view.

 

A further unique feature of the site is the Frustration Saver, comparing timing on the existing road, to that of the Airportlink road. It is a fantastic way to really gauge the convenience of the new road in terms of real time savings.

 

Other site features include a poll, surveys, newsletters and an extensive news and media releases section, which will be filled as the road approaches opening and beyond.

 

Results

The tangible results of the site's features are that they will educate potential users of the road, media and the public about where the road goes, why it's needed and what it will mean for Brisbane.
