Upgrading our Mac Mini

We decided that it was time to upgrade our testing Apple Mac to the latest Mac OS "Snow Leopard". As it is gaining a bit of age now, we needed to upgrade the RAM inside the unit.

Despite the warning that our Mac Mini didn't have any "user accessible parts" and should be upgraded by an "Apple Authorised Service Provider" (whatever that is), we decided it was something that we could manage without too much drama.

With a quick search of YouTube we discovered there were many Apple geeks keen to share on how to open this thing and put in new RAM.

Once the cover was off (the trickiest bit) all we had to do was make sure we had the right size screwdrivers to get in under the CD drive (and make sure the RAM was pushed in all the way). It was really quite straight forward, but I have to agree with apple - it is probably not the best thing to attempt on your own. I guess that is the price to pay for having such compact devices.

We used butter knives to get the clips off and pry it open, but you should probably use something less destructive like a putty knife.
