There's a restaurant close to my home that I'm reluctant to eat at. It's not that I've heard anything bad about their food or service. It's all because of the sign that has been posted outside for the last 6 months.

I would like to ask the owners how they think the sign is going. Since the sign has been up there for so long, I presume that it hasn't helped recruit the additional staff they require, but furthermore, I would like to know if their business is suffering. Do they not realise the negative impact this sign has on potential customers like me who wonder why they can't get (and keep) good staff or why they have to use this sign as their recruitment strategy?

As the adage goes: Marketing is everything and everything is marketing. It doesn't only matter what your official marketing message is, people will form their opinion based on all information that have about your business or brand (Just ask David Jones!).
