Have you ever noticed a local map at the top of Google with a section called "Local Business Results"? When a location is used in a Google search, this section lists the local businesses within that area. Try it out. If you type "convention brisbane" you should receive the following results:

So how do you take advantage of this feature and get your business listed? It's dead easy and only takes around 5 minutes.Here's what you need to do:

1. Create a free account with Google (www.google.com/accounts)
2. Once you've logged in to your Google account, click on the link to Google's Local Business Centre.
3. Add a new listing by entering in your business details including address (Google will verify these details with an automated phone call)

That's it. All done. Then just sit back and wait for your listing to appear. Google say that this will take a maximum of 12 hours (I've never seen it take anywhere near that long).

Take 5 minutes now to set it up or review your categories if you already have a listing.
